Cats We Love Sitting: 6 Favourite Breeds We See (and Adore)

At Cambridge Cat Sitting Company, we’re lucky enough to spend our days with some of the loveliest cats Cambridge has to offer. From playful mischief-makers to chilled-out lap loungers, no two cats are the same - but every single one has their own way of charming us.

While we welcome cats of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments (moggies included!), here are six breeds we’ve loved sitting - and why they’ve stolen our hearts.

1. British Shorthair

Classic, chunky, and endlessly calm - British Shorthairs are the teddy bears of the cat world. Their plush coats and quiet, affectionate nature make them a dream to care for. They’re usually independent but appreciate a gentle fuss and a comfy windowsill to survey their kingdom.

2. Ragdoll

True to their name, Ragdolls often flop into your arms like soft toys. They’re incredibly affectionate, relaxed, and people-focused - happy to follow us around during visits or curl up nearby while we tidy the litter tray. Gentle giants with a whole lot of heart.

3. Bengal

Bengals bring the drama - in the best way. Sleek, spotted, and full of energy, they keep us on our toes with their love of play and endless curiosity. A wand toy and a bit of high-up space go a long way with these clever, confident cats.

4. Persian

Known for their long coats and gentle temperament, Persians enjoy quiet routines and a bit of pampering. They do require regular grooming, which many owners schedule into their cat sitter visits.

5. Maine Coon

Gentle, expressive, and absolutely enormous - Maine Coons have a presence that’s hard to miss. Despite their size, they’re surprisingly soft-natured and sociable. They often greet us at the door and enjoy a good chat (and a long grooming session, if they’re in the mood).

6. Siamese

Talkative, slender, and very clever, Siamese cats have strong personalities and strong opinions! They often form close bonds with their humans and love to be the centre of attention.

And of course… the Moggies

We can’t end this list without giving love to the wonderful mixed-breed cats we see every day. From shy seniors to bold kittens, every moggie has their own quirks - and we adore them all.

Whatever their breed, we take the time to get to know each cat's personality, preferences, and routines. That way, they stay happy and comfortable while you're away - and you get peace of mind knowing they’re in safe, loving hands.
